There are a number of picturesque locations in India that attracted Bollywood. In the last few years, major bollywood producers and directors turned to India to shoot their movies. However, there are few films that immortalised these location in celluloid Here is a list of a few bollywood movies that were shot in India:

1. Dil Chahta Hai

A major part of this film was shot in different locales of Goa. Remember the scene where the three friends sit on a brick wall and stare towards the vast ocean while the sun sets in the backdrop? That scene was shot in Fort Aguada in Goa.

2. Jab We Met

Majority of the scenes of this film was shot in different locations across India. For instance, the song “yeh ishq haai” captured the beauty of Rohtang Pass in Himachal Pradesh. The snowcapped landscape and the hilly terrain became a major tourist attraction after the film was shot here.

3. Ram Leela

Udaipur is a place that exudes royalty and this royalty was well captured by Sanjay Leela Bhansali in his film Ram Leela. A major part of the film was shot in the Udaipur palace.

4. Chennai Express

Kerala is famous for its divine landscapes and natural beauty and bollywood also realised this. This film beautifully captures the vast tea plantations and backwaters of Kerala.

5. Jab Tak Hai Jaan

Do you remember the scene where King Khan saves Anushka Sharma from drowning? That scene was shot in the heavenly Pangong Lake in Ladakh. Not only that, the last scene of 3 Idiots where all the friends reunite after a long time was also shot here.

6. Rang De Basanti

Jaipur, the Pink City of India has always been famous for its grand architecture. The beer scene of the film where Aamir Khan and Sharman Joshi fell in a water tank after a beer drinking competition was shot in Nahargarh Fort in Jaipur.

7. Haider

Kashmir is not only famous for its stunning vistas but is also known for its affair with the Bollywood. The Shahid Kapoor starrer Haider was entirely shot in Kashmir. Not only this, other blockbuster movies such as Highway, Rockstar were also shot in the valley.

8. Kahani

The City of Joy, Kolkata have made extensive appearances in numerous bollywood movie. Major scenes in Kahani were shot in the city. The film has effectively captured the essence of the vibrant life of Kolkata.
